About the event
The Hoedown Showdown is the flagship competition of the Big Country Hoedown weekend — a high-energy, technically judged contest kicking off Saturday evening at 6:00pm sharp.
Open to all dancers aged 16 and over, competitors take to the floor in both solo and team categories, judged on technique, timing, showmanship, and authenticity by a professional panel.

Team Category
Teams face no restrictions on composition, size, or routine style bring your crew, choreograph your best, and let the judges decide. Odds and fancy dancers are not only welcome, they're celebrated.

Competition Rules

The Hoedown Showdown is open to all competitors aged 16 years and over. A valid Weekend Pass or Competition Entry is required for all participants. There is no upper age limit.

All entries must be submitted via the online entry form prior to the event. Late entries may be accepted at the coordinators' discretion. Walk-up registration is not guaranteed.

Country-appropriate attire is strongly encouraged and positively scored under Authenticity. Closed-toe dance shoes or boots are mandatory on the competition floor.

Music will be provided by the live house band for solo categories. Teams may submit pre-approved tracks in advance — contact Dave Thompson (Competition Director) for details.

Decisions made by the professional judging panel are final and binding. Judges may not be approached during or immediately after the competition. Queries via coordinators only.

The Big Country Hoedown celebrates respectful, inclusive competition. Any unsportsmanlike conduct may result in disqualification. Cheer loud, compete hard, support everyone.
